SAVE THE DATE! “I’VE GOT A SONG: A LIVING HISTORY OF THE MCCARTHY ERA”

“I’ve Got a Song!” is a live performance about Nancy Hood’s childhood experiences growing up in a leftist family during the McCarthy Era. Complementing her personal story, Hood performs American spirituals, union songs, haunting love ballads, and humorous tunes of social significance. A backdrop of family photographs and newspaper clippings completes this living history lesson, which spans the mid-1940s through the early 1960s. Evoking laughter and tears, this program draws the audience into a child’s courageous struggle with adversity and persecution. Performed by Nancy Hood and Barry Brown.

Friday, October 18, 2024, at 7:00pm. Tickets are $15.00 each and available online at www.amicablechurch.org, at ACTS on Thursday and Saturdays 10 to 2, or at the door on the 18th

FALL SEASON MISSIONS

The Thanksgiving Basket Mission has begun! Donations of food items and financial support provide food baskets to residents in need in the greater Tiverton community. Last year Amicable's Thanksgiving Basket Project ended with the distribution of approximately 155 baskets! Let's beat last year's collections!!!!

Not By Bread Alone Mission. During October as part of our Thanksgiving Basket Mission, we are again collecting items that families need but are not covered by SNAP benefits. The items we collect will be put into bags and given to families as they come to pick up their Thanksgiving baskets. We will not be purchasing these items. So, we will only be able to give out what has been donated. Items that are needed include paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, soap, dish detergent, laundry detergent, toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, and any other items that come to mind.

Donation bins will be located at the North and South entrances of the church

DEADLINE TO DONATE IS THURSDAY. NOVEMBER 21, 2024

If you would like to make a monetary donation to Amicable's Thanksgiving Basket Project and/or Not By Bread Alone Mission, please click on                     and choose the Thanksgiving Basket Donation to donate to either mission from the dropdown menu.

NEIGHBORS IN NEED OFFERING

In 2024, the Neighbors in Need theme is "Mental Health Justice For All!" In 2015, the General Synod of the United Church of Christ passed a resolution to become WISE (Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive, and Engaged) for mental health.

A just world for all is a world where the human rights and well-being of people with mental health challenges are respected, no matter who you are or where you are in life's mental health journey.

One-third of the offerings collected support the Council for American Indian Ministry (CAIM). The other two-thirds are used by Justice and Witness Ministries to provide grants to UCC churches and organizations and support a variety of justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects.

Watch a video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdtqW_rb2gQ about the 2024 Neighbors in Need campaign.

Donation envelopes will be in your Weekly Bulletin on Sunday, October 6, 2024, and in the back of the church.

Welcome to Amicable Congregational Church.

We are a very active congregation with deep roots in the Tiverton community. As followers of Jesus Christ, we have taken seriously God's call to serve the least among us. We invite you to join us in worship and to participate in one of our many ministries.
