WE ARE GLAD TO BE WORSHIPING TOGETHER!

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2026 @ 10AM
The first Sunday in Lent: we set out on a journey into and through the wilderness. This week we reflect on the theme of wilderness: not only or always a place of temptation, loneliness, and desolation. The wilderness can also be a place of invitation, interconnectedness, and restoration if we know how to look.

Those bags will go to the Thrive for Humanity programs in Fall River and be distributed to their clients.

HEALING PRAYER SERVICE ON HIATUS DURING LENT
The February and March ecumenical healing prayer services will be cancelled during the season of Lent. Please join Rev. Maddie and Rev. K at one of our other shared offerings during Lent and Holy Week. We'll reconvene prayer services in April.

WORRIED ABOUT FOOD OR KNOW OF SOMEONE WHO COULD USE SOME HELP?
We understand that not everyone who needs food can access a food bank because of the distance or limited hours and days they are open. In a Sakonnet Times article about our Thanksgiving Baskets, it was mentioned that we had started working on our next project—a place where neighbors can share with and receive from each other. That led to requests for more information from congregants and neighbors, along with offers of time and money. The Trustees and a leader of our ACTS Thrift Store joined the discussion. Other churches shared how they are doing similar work. This past Sunday morning, those entering through the north entrance might have noticed the results: The Amicable Cares - Kindness Cabinet.
The Kindness Cabinet will be open at any time for items to be received or taken as needed. If you have ideas on how to best advertise this resource to our neighbors, please call and leave a message on our church office phone. Click here for more information.
In addition to our Amicable Cares – Kindness Cabinet there are other Community Food Pantries in the area to make sure all our neighbors have the food they need to be healthy and active. Food pantries provide an abundance of food to the people of Southeastern Massachusetts. Click on this link for more Food Resources.

BECOME A SUNDAY MORNING GREETER
Greeting friends and new faces at our sanctuary doors at the start of Sunday morning worship is an incredibly important role you can volunteer for as a member or friend of Amicable. Our United Church of Christ conference has studied church practices over many years and concluded that a person visiting a church for the first time typically decides in the first 30 seconds of being in the building whether they will come back again. Ensuring they are acknowledged, warmly welcomed, and made to feel comfortable are integral to this conclusion leaning toward “yes!” at Amicable. There is a rotating list of Greeters that would love to see more volunteers added to the ranks. If volunteering for this role interests you, please reach out to Kristen Zeiser (Kristen.zeiser@gmail.com).

having a spirit of friendliness, good-natured, neighborly
Welcome to Amicable Congregational Church.
We are a very active congregation with deep roots in the Tiverton community. As followers of Jesus Christ, we have taken seriously God's call to serve the least among us. We invite you to join us in worship and to participate in one of our many ministries.
