Reverend Maddie Foster, Minister

she/her
Rev. Maddie is a native of North Branford, CT. She holds a B.A. in English with a concentration on Poetry and Creative Writing from Southern Connecticut State University and an M.Div. from Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, MA, and was ordained into the ministry of word and sacrament in the United Church of Christ in 2018.

Rev. Maddie has served in different capacities at North Branford Congregational Church in North Branford, CT (2006-2011), Wellesley Hills Congregational Church in Wellesley, MA (2013-2015), and most recently as Minister for Children and Youth at the Congregational Church of Needham in Needham, MA where she served from 2015 until she was called to serve Amicable in 2024.
Rev. Maddie is passionate about preaching that breaks open the word to get to the heart of it; she loves the sentiment from theologian Karl Barth that goes, “because I take the Bible seriously, I do not take it literally.”

Rev. Maddie is also called to intersectional justice work, particularly around sexuality and gender, and environmental, economic, and housing justice, and the way these all weave together with many other threads to give us a fuller understanding of God’s justice.

Rev. Maddie shares a home with her spouse and child and the family’s 3 dogs and 6 chickens. She loves to sew, paint, craft, and write. She practices yoga and, every once in a while, will sign herself up for a 5k but mostly enjoys chasing after a toddler and dogs in her backyard.

Sue Morgado, Office Manager

she/her
Fall River born and bred! Sue has lived in other areas of the state but has always returned to the “Riv”! She is married to her wonderful spouse, Ker, and they have two pets, Finn, the cat, the 10-year-old boss of the house and Tia, the 7-year-old Double Doodle, the dog who believes she is human.

Sue has spent her career in administration and technology. She retired (incredibly young… lol) from Wheaton College, Norton, MA in 2016 and after a couple of years felt a little restless so she adopted a Double Doodle! Tia kept her busy as a pup, but she “grew” up and no longer needed 24/7 attention, so she decided to look for a part time job.

The job at Amicable fell out of the sky for Sue! While helping a former Wheaton student find a job in the technology field, she started to receive email postings for tech jobs in the area, and the rest is history!
Sue manages the church office (email, technology, data management, automated systems, etc.), creates and maintains publications/PR, maintains Amicable’s social media accounts (Facebook and website), and does whatever else she can to get things that need to get done… done! Her ears are always open! If you need to know what is going on she usually is the one to let you know! If you have questions Sue can usually answer them or know who can.

“I am truly fortunate to be working here! I enjoy the people I work with; I love what I do for the church, and I especially love how welcoming this church is and continues to be. Stop by my office anytime! I appreciate the “pop ins and drive-bys” and I am always ready for a good laugh! You can also email me at office@amicablechurch.org or message me through Facebook Messenger at Amicable Congregational Church, UCC”
